The estate encompasses 600 hectares (1500 acres) of parkland, farmland, woodland, and gardens. Many of the fine vistas and landscape features created in the 18th century can still be seen today and if you look closely there are other survivals from earlier garden designs.
The gardens today provide for all tastes and seasons, from informal spring bulbs in drifts throughout the park to the classic formal rose beds of the walled garden. The park is renowned for its spectacular rhododendron walk and holds several national plant collections.
