Veranstallter & Artist N*Jazz: Mit Blackmusic Zürich erobern
Jazz Cismaan will die Zürcher Konzertszene aufmischen. Zum Auftakt bringt er 04.11.06 niemand Geringeres als Montell Jordan in Alte Börse (ex-cubanito)

Obschon Jazz’s Familie erst vor ca. 10 Jahren aus Somalia in die Schweiz eingewandert ist, kann man ihn getrost als Kind dieser Stadt bezeichnen: Bereits als 15 jähriger hat er sich erstmals als Veranstalter im Jugendfoyer Zürich in Wiedikon als Veranstalter auszeichnen können. Aus dem anfänglichen Hobby wurde eine Passion: Mit seinen beiden Partylabels "Hustle & Flow" sowie "Curious", das sich mit seinen R´n´B - Oldschool- und Dance Classics-Line Ups an ein gesetzteres Publikum richtet, vermochte er neue Standards im Nachtleben zu setzen. Jazz strebt jedoch nach Höherem als nach dem Ausrichten einfacher DJ-Partys, wie es das Gros der Zürcher Veranstalter tut: Er möchte Zürich mit Live-Gigs internationaler Black Music-Grössen beglücken. Als erstes hat er sich für morgen Samstag Abend Montell Jordan in die Alte Börse geholt, der bereits mit Grössen wie Mary J. Blige oder TLC auf Tour war und der bei seiner Anhängerschaft hohes Ansehen geniesst, da er die verschiedensten Stile in seine Musik einfliessen lässt. Jazz selbst plant jedoch schon weiter: “Ich habe bereits Kontakt zu Akon und B2K geknüpft”, verrät uns der umtriebige Macher. (BERICHT VON 20 MINUTEN)

Montell Jordan began singing in his hometown of Los Angeles in talent shows, church choirs, and later nightclubs. After graduating from Pepperdine University, he spent seven years looking for a record deal, finally getting an opportunity through Paul Stewart, the president of PMP Records. Jordan and Stewart flew to New York, where Jordan sang for Russell Simmons and was promptly signed to a contract. For his first album, Jordan heavily sampled B.B. King tracks (the first to do so), and took his lyrical inspiration from the more positive side of life in his native South Central L.A. in an attempt to balance the negative pictures coming out of most SoCal gangsta rap. Jordan was rewarded with a massive number one smash in the party anthem "This Is How We Do It," which sold over one million copies; More to Tell followed in 1996. Although it didn't match the success of This Is How We Do It, it was nevertheless a hit. In the spring of 1998, Jordan released his third album, Let's Ride; Get It on Tonite followed a year later.
